Shoegaze takes the lead

We tracked a massive 32-point leap for shoegaze this week, pushing its vocumi score from 39 to 71 across 22 tracked careers. It is the clearest breakout signal on the platform. Close behind is UK drill, which surged 21.9 points to a score of 77.4. These are not massive, bloated genres—they are lean, highly active pockets where scout attention is converting into genuine momentum.

The efficiency gap in rising genres

When you look at where careers are actually rising, raw volume can lie to you. Indie pop has 108 rising careers, but it also has 126 declining ones across 222 tracked artists. That is a negative split. Compare that to singer-songwriter, which boasts 104 rising careers against just 48 declining ones, or Americana with 130 rising to 70 declining. We are seeing highly efficient growth in these roots-adjacent spaces, making them much safer bets for your roster than over-saturated pop lanes.

How to play the momentum split

Stop looking at genre size as a proxy for opportunity. The data shows that smaller, high-velocity cohorts like experimental electronic (up 16.2 points) are quietly outperforming major lanes. If you are waiting for a genre to dominate the charts before you move, you are already too late. Focus on the ratio of rising-to-declining careers within these high-momentum pockets to find your next signing.
